Mission Statement

Haki Farmers Collective seeks to bolster and reincorporate traditional and inherently sustainable farming knowledge that is present in our migrant and indigenous communities. By holding close decolonization frameworks, Haki seeks to encourage our intersecting Black, Indigenous and Immigrant peoples to reclaim life-giving knowledge of truly sustainable foodways and plant medicine creation. At Haki we believe the need to find our roots, examine and use our traditional practices, and disseminate this knowledge is an urgent mission to care for our bodies, souls, and especially our planet.

Goals

  • Increase the number of Black and Brown growers in South West Washington.
  • Create networks of support for Black and Brown growers in our region
  • Grow and provide healthy culturally relevant food for BIPOC communities across the Sound
  • Provide food systems education for youth and families
  • Revive and reincorporate sustainable traditional foodways into our farming systems
  • Advocate for the radical redistribution of resources to historically marginalized growers

LOCATIONS

Urban Farm

Haki’s urban farm is home to our education and community programs. This space is dedicated to supporting new growers, and experimenting with various traditional growing and seed keeping practices. The urban farm is open to visitors during the growing season. See our events calendar to see upcoming volunteer events and open hours at the urban farm.

Collective Market Garden

Our market in rural Thurston County is stewarded by our collective members. On our 3.5 acre farm we hold to regenerative practices centering soil health and biodiversity to honor the native prairie ecosystem which we inhabit.
